Meet your future Tara-pist
(haha, get it?!)
Hello, I’m Tara, let me tell you a few things about myself! I attended University of Arizona, where I studied human development and family studies, and graduated with honors. After that, I went on to complete my Master of Social Work program at Arizona State University. I have been in the mental health field for 15 years, at various places, such as: community mental health centers doing assessment and crisis work, a military base doing victim advocacy and educational trainings for soldiers and families, youth rehabilitation and correctional facilities, to a university campus health center. I am happy to be in my very own private practice now!
I’d like to consider myself your friendly neighborhood therapist, who's ready to help you navigate life's crazy twists and turns. I take a very relational approach, I am not the therapist who will sit there with a stone cold face as you share your story, I’ll react with you, and I’ll be there as the person to help you co-regulate as you move through the difficult times. While I do like to laugh and have a good time, just know that I will take you, your life, and whatever you bring to session very seriously, and we will work together to find ways to cope and heal. My goal is for you to feel comfortable, heard and validated in our time together.
Now, just a few things about me for funsies:
I am PRO pineapple on pizza, in fact, pepperoni and pineapple pizza is my favorite.
I love reading, especially psychological thrillers or fantasy books.
My go to comfort show is New Girl, I also love Bob’s Burgers, The Office, Queer Eye, and sooo many reality shows.
I have been married for 10 years and have 2 little boys, 3 dogs, 1 turtle, and 7 fish. Oh, and ever since having kids I cry all the time, happy stuff, sad stuff, anything, it’s really fun.
